"Word of God", as explained by the link in the post, means "confirmed by the creator". Greg asked "How did people find out his name". You can assume the creators confirmed it. You can assume the answers to most of the questions Greg posts.

It's also on Zelda Wiki.

Also, bear in mind that Nintendo acts like those games never existed, so asking the creators is not a good idea...

If I were to go with a meme character, it would probably be Mudkip, since he has the ability to be a character, yet not be totally WTF to those unfamiliar with the meme.

But it's a WTF in the Pokemon sense. As in "Why is Mudkip playable and not <insert pogeymanz here>?"
Where as Weegee can be in his own group, like Wario, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi are.


@ Gregboy: Mama Luigi is useless, and "YES man"? You mean M. Bison? He's a major villain in the Street Fighter series, so he's not a Meme Character. He just has a Meme that's assoiciated with him. Whereas Weegee, as he is based on Luigi, is a Meme Character. Pedobear is another example of a Meme Character.

Don't worry, they don't show Pedobear ACTUALLY with someone (if you get what I mean), they just show him in a comedic way with innuendo. Usually relating to obscure anime (obscure to ME, at least.).
